PO BOY FEST

This absolutely fablous event where Oak street is flooded with a myraid of stands featuring every kind of Po-Boy you could ever want took place one sunday, and for a foodie it was a dream come true.  My friends and I went ravenous and swept the street looking for the most tantalizing form of a Po-Boy we could find.  Before we set out on out we had looked up the list of vendors and what they were offering so that we have a clue as to what stands held the best sandwhich, it was a wise move.  The crowd we walked into was one of the most dysfunctional group of people I had ever been it, it was a grid lock of bodies but understandably so.  The first Po-Boy I consumed was a Caribbean inspired and was amazing, I opted to get the sweet potato salad that the stand was offering and that was no regret.  The second Po-Boy I devored was roast beef with fried oysters spinach and a special sauce. This one was a bit of let down the fried oysters were cold and the bread was tough. My second choice proved to be a big slap in face after trying what my friends second choice was.  She had gotten a barbeque oyster Po-Boy and it was sensational.  The oysters were warm and tasted just like buffalo chicken, I was insanly jealous.  Of course I bought a Po-Boy fest t-shirt to commemorate the experience and ideally invoke questions from my peers back in New England when I break it out.  While waiting for the street car I treated myself to one last indulgence and picked up a slider from an asian infused stand towards the opening of the festival, the flavor was amazing and it was just enough to leave me feeling fully satisfied with my experience. Interestingly enough, while I was home for Thanksgiving I was telling my cousin about the festival, and he told me that kids from the college he had gone to in Vermont went to play at it. This was an empitome of how the culture of the city caused music enthusiast to flock here as it was the music program that brought the Johnson State students here. Overall, double thumbs up for the festival. If you're a college student and didn't go then you're truely missing out and should probably reevaluate.
